Last few days in Bangkok before flying back to Finland and duties.
Shopping at the moment, we had a sauna and were
playing around in a swimming pool yesterday.
Playing, which nearly resulted in a death of one of my
closest friends as he was trying to spend as much time
underwater as possible. When he was pulled up he was stiff
and going blue - luckily he was pulled out of the pool and
he started breathing again and regained consciousness.
I had never before thought of the possibility that I or one
of my friends could die in such an stupid and meaningless way
just one of these days. Worst part of the pool session was that
I held his head up while he was going worse all the time and
had no instinctive reaction on how to act in such a situation.
I think I'll have to get myself some medical and first aid
training... It's not much of a help if I end up in a similar
situation, but at least I won't have to live with a memory
of a friend dying because I wouldn't know how to save him.
Friends are too precious to lose.
